Dads Matter
Dads Matter is a free, supportive parenting program for fathers and father figures who want to strengthen their relationship with their children and feel more confident in their parenting role.
Fatherhood can be rewarding and challenging, and many dads are looking for practical tools, honest conversation, and connection with other men who are navigating similar experiences. Dads Matter creates a welcoming, judgment-free space to learn, reflect, and grow together.
What you can expect
This program recognizes the important role fathers play in their children’s development, wellbeing, and sense of security. Through guided discussion and practical activities, Dads Matter explores:
- How the role of fathers has changed and why dads matter
- Child development and understanding different stages
- Building strong, healthy connections with your child(ren)
- Positive discipline strategies without punishment
- Setting a good example and modelling healthy behaviour
- Understanding your own reactions and developing greater emotional control
- Strengthening confidence in your parenting decisions
How you can take part
Dads Matter is typically offered as a free 7-week group program, with weekly evening sessions that include a shared meal and time to connect with other fathers.
Program dates, times, and locations vary throughout the year.
If there is no current session running, you can still register your interest. Letting us know you’re interested helps us plan future groups and ensures you’ll be notified when the next Dads Matter program is scheduled.
