Why volunteer with SCCSS?

Volunteering with Sunshine Coast Community Services is a meaningful way to connect with others and be part of something bigger than yourself. It’s an opportunity to build relationships, share your skills, and feel a strong sense of belonging while supporting your community.

SCCSS began as a volunteer-driven organization, and that spirit continues today. As the largest non-profit on the Sunshine Coast, with more than 30 programs, volunteers play a vital role in expanding the reach and impact of our work. Quite simply, we could not do what we do without them.

Who volunteers?

Volunteers come from all walks of life - working professionals, students, retirees, and people looking to stay connected to their community.

Each year, volunteers contribute their time, energy, and care across our programs. Their presence helps strengthen services, build relationships, and ensure more people on the Sunshine Coast can access support when they need it.

What can you do as a volunteer?

There is something for everyone at Community Services. There are many ways to help others, including:

• Seniors support (e.g. home visits, connection)
• Family and children’s programs
• Supporting new parents
• Food programs (Food Bank, community kitchen, garden)
• Arrowhead Clubhouse support
• Events and fundraising
• Seasonal or one-time projects
• Sharing professional skills or experiences (e.g. mentoring, advising, hands-on support)
• Facilitator / peer learning (leading workshops or sharing skills)
• Board member / governance
• General volunteer support (open to where needed most)

What is certain is that you are sure to find something right for you. You will feel rewarded and be valued. Volunteers make a real difference in the community and the lives of the people around them - and so can you!
