Request for Proposals: Prenatal Instructor

Sunshine Coast Community Services (SCCSS) invites proposals for a Prenatal Instructor who will be hired to offer families on the Sunshine Coast prenatal classes.  These classes will be held in the community 3 times between July 2025 and April 2026.

The Facilitator:

  • Is qualified to teach prenatal education and has experience working with pre and postnatal families.
  • Be familiar with hospital procedures and processes as they relate to pre- and post-natal care on the Sunshine Coast
  • Responsible for administering survey forms to families, when necessary, to aid in the collection of material relevant to reporting and/or accreditation. 
  • Adheres to SCCSS policies and procedures and meets all legal, contractual, financial, and other compliance requirements required by institutions such as Health Canada
  • Demonstrates cultural competency working with Indigenous families and community.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency working with newcomers.
  • Uses a trauma informed approach in their practice
  • Has excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Be available to provide prenatal education in person and in a 4-class series 2.5 hour per class format. The classes could also be delivered in a weekend workshop format.
  • Be available to attend a prenatal class reunion following each series.
  • Be available to provide this workshop 3 times between August 2025 and April 2026.
  • Be willing to partner with community partners such as Vancouver Coastal Health
  • This position will report to the Family Resource Program Lead.

​​​Experience required:

  • Prenatal class facilitation experience
  • Experience working with pre and postnatal women and families
  • Birth Doula, Midwife, Community/maternity Nurse, or Birth Attendant experience is an asset

Compensation:

  • The contractor will be compensated 800.00
