Pass It On! Empowering seniors, enriching community

The Pass It On program is a free training initiative for seniors offered at Community Services Thrift Store in Gibsons and funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

The Pass It On Program (POP) is an 8-week, peer-led mentorship and training initiative designed to empower seniors through meaningful engagement at the Community Services Thrift Store. This hands-on workshop series introduces senior volunteers to the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive in a supportive thrift store environment.

Experienced volunteers lead each session and focus on a key area of Thrift Store operations.

The POP initiative is open to all seniors (aged 55+) in the community with no service fees, and includes refreshments for participants.

In addition to building new skills and friendships, the program aims to strengthen the volunteer experience and improve Thrift Store operations, ensuring continued support for our many programs serving people of all ages across the Sunshine Coast.

There will be four intakes over the next 10 months, with the first one in early June.
