Stay Connected Better At Home
Better At Home is a program that helps Seniors with simple, non-medical home support services, so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities.
The Government of British Columbia funds the program, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it, and local non-profit organizations provide the services. There are more than 70 Better At Home programs across the Lower Mainland.
Better At Home services are provided by a mix of volunteers, contractors and staff. Some services are provided free of charge and others have fees. All fees are determined on a sliding scale based on income and ability to pay. Clients are never responsible for paying workers directly for service, invoices are sent monthly from our office.
The specific services offered by Better At Home reflect the different needs of each community. Here on the Sunshine Coast, we offer the following services:
- Friendly visiting
- Transportation
- Grocery delivery
- Light housekeeping
- Light yard work
- Minor home repair
- Library services
- Connect Thru Tech
Fees for Better at Home services are determined on a sliding scale based on an ability to pay. Some are offered for free.
We provide services from Port Mellon to West Sechelt. If you are a senior living on the Sunshine Coast you are eligible to apply. Contact us to register or for more information.
Better At Home is always looking for new volunteers to join our team. We have a variety of roles available and offer ongoing training opportunities for all volunteers.
