COVID-19 EMERGENCY FOOD & ESSENTIALS
We have set up this service for families and individuals who cannot afford food or essential items and are not able to access the Food Bank.
*COVID-19 Emergency Food and Essentials Hotline Update - June 25, 2020
The need for our Emergency Hotline service over the past few months was apparent by the over 200 deliveries of food and essential items to members of our community that were isolated due to Covid-19. We have seen a significant decrease for the need of our Hotline service and will be suspending the Hotline at the end of June. This service will be reactivated if the need arises in the future. If you are in need of food or essential items, please call our office at 604-885-5881 ext. 240.
If you are able to purchase food and essential items but are isolated, you can access home delivery from many of the local Sunshine Coast grocery stores. If you are a senior and feel isolated/concerned about accessing a grocery store in person or have questions about ordering groceries online, please contact our Better at Home program for support. Email betterathome@sccss.ca

Our team does its best to help you with your pantry stock on your first order/visit. The size of the household will dictate the amount of food we can supply. On your first order you can expect:
- Meat - We will try to satisfy the household preference
- Produce
- Personal Products
- Dry/Canned Goods
- Eggs
- Milk
- Pet Food
Where possible we will satisfy dietary restrictions.
Deliveries will be on Thursdays between 10am and noon. Each week you will be contacted by our hotline staff to confirm if you still need your Food Bank delivered. The items will be a bit different each week and you can choose what you want from the list. If you can make it to the Food Bank in person, during regular service hours, we will cancel your delivery order that week.
At this time Food Bank hours remain Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11am-1pm for people coming to the Food Bank in person. Bags of food will be provided outdoors and social distancing measures will be put in place to protect our staff, volunteers and community members. As the situation evolves, we will be posting updates here and on social media.

Your information will be gathered by SCCSS staff and/or trained volunteers and only accessed by necessary staff/volunteers in order to provide you emergency food and essentials. - Feminine hygiene products
