Building Housing, Building Community Food Security Engagement
On August 19th, SCCSS hosted an event focused on incorporating increased food security and food programming in our future redeveloped space, Building Housing, Building Community.
Our event brought together over 30 program participants, staff, volunteers and partners in the community who are passionate about food security to share their thoughts, experiences and provide feedback for our project. We were honoured to have Kathryn Scharf, Chief Program Officer from Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) as our guest speaker to share information about the CFCC model and how implementing dignified food programs can improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
We were really impressed with how engaged the attendees were and look forward to integrating the feedback into future plans. Some feedback from the event include:
“I'd love to see events like this more often. It makes me feel like I'm part of the community and my voice matters.”
“Congratulations on playing a leadership role in bringing this to our community.”
“Excited to see this vision come true!”
